At-Home Care in Dorset

If you’re looking for at-home care in Dorset, look no further than A1 Care.

We provide home care for a 20-mile radius around the areas of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. When you think of Bournemouth, you might think of Bournemouth Pier or the Russell Cotes Art Gallery. Now, you should also think of A1 Care. We are a multi-award winning home care service provider committed to providing our service users with the best possible care.

Did you know that 814,000 people receive home care in England? It’s more common than you might think.

At-home care is also a lot safer than other care options.

There are almost one third fewer falls with live-in Care versus nursing homes. If you want to know more about how A1 Care can help you…

The Care We Provide

At A1 Care, we provide both live-in care and domiciliary care. You can read more about us here.

At-home Live-in Care

Let’s start with live-in care. One of our carers will live with the service user to help them regain their independence and live their life to the fullest.

We will evaluated and get to know you to match a carer to your home perfectly.

We will find a perfect match for you who understands your routine and is committed to giving you the best quality of care possible.

Our live-in carers will provide:

  • Personal care such as showering, dressing, and toileting.
  • Housekeeping and domestic duties such as laundry, ironing, dusting, and general cleaning
  • Palliative care
  • Parkinson’s care
  • After stroke care
  • Dementia care
  • Care for couples
  • Assistance in events, shopping, and social activities.
  • Active 24-hour care
  • And finally, companionship

Our companionship will allow the service user to feel less lonely and vulnerable.

This companionship, in turn, will boost mental and even physical health.

The older generation will have more physical symptoms of depression, such as weight loss and trouble sleeping. Our companionship aims to alleviate these problems. Live-in care also allows you to visit the service user whenever you wish. By visiting as you wish, you can be as involved as you want to instead of your loved one relying solely on you. Find out how live-in care can help the, elderly love later life.

At-home domiciliary care

Domiciliary care encompasses the range of services that can be put in place to support your family member from their own home. However, our carers will not live with your loved one. A domiciliary carer can give the service user a one-to-one care level that a residential home cannot match. It also allows the service user to remain at home surrounded by their belongings and pets. Remaining in their own home can reduce stress and confusion.

Our carers will provide:

  • Personal care
  • Medicine management and administration
  • Companionship and assisted breaks
  • Welfare checks
  • Care for mental health needs
  • Home from hospital care and rapid response
  • End of life care
  • Continuing and complex care

To provide this level of care, all of our team members have to undergo an incredibly in-depth training regime.

Training

Here at A1 Care, we pride ourselves on the depth of training we undergo to be the best possible carers. In Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, every team member must go through all the training required. Therefore, none of our carers come to your loved one inexperienced.

This training allows our team members to believe in and follow through on maintaining our high levels of expectations for service. We opt for in-house training over E-learning, as it gives a better quality of training and a better result for our carers. First, we have each team member complete a formal induction programme. Then when this induction is completed, we follow up with regular monitoring and supervision. By monitoring and supervising our team, we can ensure that we provide the best possible care.

The contents of the induction programme are as follows:

  • Medication
  • Food hygiene
  • Fire safety
  • Nutrition and fluids
  • Moving and handling
  • Health and safety
  • The Mental Capacity Act
  • End of life
  • Infection control
  • Personal and pressure care
  • Dementia
  • Communication
  • First Aid
  • Person-centred care
  • Equality and diversity
  • Risk assessment

With such extensive training, it is no wonder we have won several awards. Our carers have refresher training every month, and no excuses!

Awards

Our team never went into the care profession for glory. But, our awards show you that we are great at what we do… We are caring for your loved ones and keeping them safe. Our awards have been awarded to us by Home Care. We are rated 10/10 as a home care provider. It can’t get better than that! We are also ranked #1 in the BCP area. Additionally, in the general Dorset area, we are ranked #3. And across the entire South West England, we are ranked #8! An achievement we are very proud of. Awards aren’t everything, but they prove we are committed to doing our best for your loved ones and community.

The Community

A1 Care brings a much-needed service to the communities of Bournemouth and Wareham. The elderly generation is a vital part of the community, as they have given so many years to it. And, we enable this generation to continue to be a part of this community and get out to all the social events they’re used to. We also help you to continue to be a part of the community! 600 people give up work every day to care for an older or disabled relative.

This means they are looking after their loved ones full time and not getting out as much as they used to. By allowing us to care for your loved ones instead, you will be able to continue being a part of the community and know they are in safe hands. Community is essential to us at A1 Care. We recently ran an event in the local Wareham hall which was a great success, bringing together small businesses, fun activities and the local community.

If you’re in the Bournemouth or Wareham area and are looking for excellent carers, get in touch with us today!
